What a difference in weather this trip compared to the one I took in the 80's with Sally.
We had wonderful sunny warm weather my last trip.
It has rained since last Sunday.| morning view of Perce Rock from the boat |

We took an early boat trip to Bon Adventure island.
The seas were fairly calm and the crowd was light on the boat.

We planned to spend the entire day hiking the island.
What disappointment upon landing to discover only one trail was open.
In addition, we were advised the boat companies may close the island due to weather.
We hiked to the gannet nesting area.
Over 20,000 pairs of gannet birds nest on the island.
We heard and smelt the birds prior to seeing the colony.
They are noisy and aggressive bunch of birds.
Squacking and pecking at each other.
We spotted a few babies-balls of white fluff and a black beak.
The juvenile gannets practiced their soaring ability on the cliff's edge.
About 1:00 the rains started and the fog moved into the area.
We took the boat ride back to town just as the weather really worsen.

It rained all night and was still raining as we left the area.
We are now in New Richmond camping with truck problems
Maybe we will be able to get the truck repaired and on the road again soon.
The Gaspe has changed since the 80's but it still has a rural feel to the area.
A lot of homes are still brightly painted with unique shutters.
I have not seen any butterflies on the sides of houses that I remembered previously
It is strawberry season on this side of the peninsula .
I plan to hunt out strawberry wine that has been advertised.
It sounds sweet but interesting.
Am enjoying your posts and photos Patricia. Hope you get that truck fixed and can be on your way to your next destination.
