August 7th
I am sitting in the van sipping on a glass of wine and waiting for my soup to cook It is a nice way to spend the evening after a couple of days on the road.
Yesterday morning we stopped at Marcel Gargnon Gallery. It has changed a lot since the 80's.
The stone figures representing the immigrants coming from the sea to settle the area were still the same.
The small gallery is now a gallery and gift shops for numerous artists. I look forward to comparing my slides from the 80's to my current photos.
Most of the day was spent at the Les Jardin de metis.
A very nice garden from the estate of Elsie Redford.
It was a beautiful day to walk around the garden.
Temperatures were in the 60's and sunny.
Our campsite that evening was in the Parc Gaspe.
We drove up a long gravel road to a campground in the mountains next to a lake..
We were really delighted to have a fox follow us along the trail. I think he must be the camp fox.
We did hear a moose along the trail .
I was glad that he did not appear since I cannot remember what you are suppose to do when you encounter a moose.
Just as we returned to camp the rain started.
It was rained the remainder of the day.
The coastline is beautiful with the rain and fog.
The Gaspe still has a rural feel despite the increase in population.
Houses still have colorful roofs and different style colorful shutters.
We stopped for gas several times and most of the stations have full service.
You do not pump your own gas.
I think the last time someone pumped gas in US form me was in the 80's.
We are now camped at Forillon National Park of Canada.
The campround is located along the shoreline. It is a beautiful park.
The campgound restroom/service centers have a large space to eat meals and wash dishes.
A wood burning stove warms the room.
The campsites are large and lush with vegetation and a view of the ocean.
Life really is good!
