The end of my vacation

Montpelier

We did leave the next morning and crossed into Maine around 1:00.  We drove a little south and than west towards Upstate New York.

Our drive was slow on two lane roads.  I would have enjoyed wandering through Vermont and New Hampshire but we did not want to spend days driving in rain.

We spent two long days driving in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

We left our campsite along Lake Erie in New York early morning around 8:00.  The rain and wind started up soon after our departure.

We drove all morning with our van rocking back and forth in the wind.  By mid afternoon we make it out of Irene's rain and camped in Columbus Ohio late that eveining.

My first couple of days home the temperature was over 100 degrees-what a shock.  It has now cooled down and feels like fall.  I am already thinking about next years trip.
